Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Anson Youth Tackle Football and Cheer (AYTFC)

Welcome to the official FAQ page for Anson Youth Tackle Football and Cheer (AYTFC)!

We’re thrilled you’re considering joining our roaring family of Tigers. Founded in 2024 as an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN: 99-3426595), AYTFC provides safe, fun, and competitive tackle football and cheer programs for kids from Pre-K through 6th grade in Anson, Texas, and surrounding communities.

As a full member of the West Texas Rural Youth Football and Cheer League (WTRYFCL), we compete against teams from Clyde, Jim Ned, Early, Merkel, Hawley, Winters, and Colorado City—while operating completely separately from Anson ISD athletics.

Our inaugural 2024 season built a strong foundation, and our 2025 season featured 112 athletes (66 football players and 46 cheerleaders) with major highlights like the Mighty Mite Division II Super Bowl championship and a Pee Wee performance at AT&T Stadium.

2026 registration is NOW OPEN ONLINE—head to the Registration Tab on [ansontigersyouth.com](https://www.ansontigersyouth.com/) or use the direct TeamLinkt link.

Our red-and-black Tiger teams build champions both on the field and in the community—no salaries, just heart and local pride.

Who can participate?
Any child in Pre-K through 6th grade from Anson or nearby areas is welcome. No experience required—we’re inclusive for all skill levels. Siblings can often play in the same divisions.

When does the 2026 season run?
Practices typically begin mid-to-late July/early August. Games run September through November (8–10 regular-season games + playoffs). Expect 2–3 practices per week. Full schedules post on the website and TeamLinkt app once teams form.

**Practices, Games & Schedules**

Where and when are practices?
Practices are held at Anson ISD fields (Anson Elementary / Tiger Stadium area) on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, approximately 6–8 PM (weather permitting). Flag practices are shorter. Game days are usually Saturday mornings. Schedules are family-friendly and updated live on the site.

How do I stay updated on schedules and scores?
Use the TeamLinkt app or check our website (Scores, Schedule, and Community Hub pages). We also post highlights on Facebook, Instagram, and X. (GroupMe may be used in limited cases.)

What if my child misses practice or a game?
We understand life happens and work with families. However, consistent attendance builds skills and team chemistry. Attendance directly affects playing time:
- Missing one practice in a week → not in the starting lineup for the next game.
- Missing two practices → ineligible for the first half of the next game.

Coaches prioritize attitude, effort, and preparation while ensuring every athlete gets meaningful playing time.

**Costs, Equipment & Financial Help**

What equipment do families provide?
AYTFC supplies core safety gear (helmets, shoulder pads, game jersey/pants) funded by donations. Families provide:
- Mouthguard
- Athletic supporter/cup (football)
- Cleats and practice shoes
- Comfortable athletic clothes
- Practice jersey/pants with pads
- Game socks

Cheer squads receive uniforms and most practice gear included. Full checklists are sent after registration.

Are there additional fees?
Optional items (team photos, spirit wear) may have small add-on costs. No hidden fees. Scholarships and sponsor support ensure no child is turned away for financial reasons—contact our Player Advocate.

How can I donate or sponsor?
Every dollar goes 100% to the kids (no platform fees on Zeffy).
- Donate: [Zeffy Donation Form](https://www.zeffy.com/donation-form/ansonyouthtacklefootballandcheer) or scan the QR code on our site.

**Safety, Rules & Expectations**

How does AYTFC prioritize safety?
Safety is #1. All coaches are background-checked and trained in youth first aid/CPR. We follow USA Football and WTRYFCL guidelines with age-appropriate contact, certified equipment, hydration breaks, and concussion protocols. Medical forms are required at registration.

What are the behavior expectations?
We expect positive sportsmanship from players, parents, and coaches. Our Code of Conduct (detailed in bylaws) prohibits bullying or unsportsmanlike behavior. Violations may result in warnings or removal.
